Eltron P500 Card Printer Selected For Arkansas Drivers License Project |

CAMARILLO, Calif., April 16, 1999 — Zebra Technologies Corporation (Nasdaq: Zebra), a leading manufacturer of plastic card printers and thermal bar code printers, today announced that Viisage Technology Incorporated, Littleton, Massachusetts, has entered into an agreement with Zebra Technologies for the production of Digital Driver's License and various Identification Cards (ID) for the State of Arkansas. The estimated value of this contract to Zebra is in excess of $1,400,000 over five years. Viisage Technology selected Zebra's Eltron P500 card printer to produce digital driver's licenses and ID cards for the State of Arkansas.
The on-demand (instant issue) printing program incorporates 178 Eltron® brand printers and related consumables to be installed in July and August of 1999. Viisage Technology is the System Integrator for the project. Viisage is a leader in the emerging field of biometrics and in providing secure digital identification systems and solutions. Viisage combines the company's systems integration and software design capabilities with the company's proprietary software and hardware products to other best-in-class products to create complete customized solutions. Applications include driver's licenses, voter registration, national ID cards, law enforcement and social services.
The State of Arkansas required a printer that would provide a dual sided printing capability, including barcodes, encoding of a magnetic stripe and the application of an overlaminate. The Eltron P500 printer was selected because of the company's leadership technology to fulfill these requirements. The Eltron P500 is a dual station (printing and laminating station) color printer used to produce "High Quality Tamper Resistant" cards.
