Zebra Technologies Introduces New User-Friendly, Eltron Brand P200 Series Plastic Card Printers |

CAMARILLO, Calif., September 14, 2001 — Zebra Technologies Corporation (Nasdaq: ZBRA), the worldwide leader in bar code labeling solutions and plastic card printers, today announced introduction of the Eltron P200 Series of plastic card printers, described as small, economical, and easy-to-use.
The Eltron P200 Series is designed for smaller volume applications that require personalization of plastic cards on demand. "We made the P200 printers simpler and easier to use, since the product is targeted for the retail and other environments where operator training will be minimal," said Holly Sacks, vice president of marketing for the Eltron Card Printer Products business unit.
Other features include a new 32-bit processor, 2 Mbytes of standard memory and 1 Mbyte of Flash memory, an open ACCESS™ clamshell design that uses simple-to-load printer ribbon cartridges, and a self-cleaning card handling mechanism, all in a convenient front access design for easy card loading and card output.
The Eltron P200 Series comprises two models. The P205 model is a monochrome (black only) printer that can print a card in 4 seconds. The P210 model prints single-side, full-color cards with edge-to-edge printing in under 30 seconds. Both offer ultra-sharp 300 dpi print resolution for precise, readable bar codes, graphics and text, on cards 10 to 30 mils thick.
The P200 Series has the industry's smallest plastic card printers, with a space-saving 9.4" x 6.7" footprint. Occupying less space than most business phones, the P200 models are ideal for countertop and desktop applications.
The P200 Series printers are simple to set up and use. Snap-in, easy-to-change ribbon cartridges ensure proper ribbon loading every time. Cartridges use state-of-the-art RFID technology to automate ribbon-to-printer synchronization for accurate printing every time. Automatic sensing also detects when the ribbon cartridge is running low and notifies the operator.
Applications for the P200 models include personalized customer loyalty cards, ID cards, employee and visitor badges, club membership cards, library cards, retail gift certificate cards, hotel door keys, business cards, luggage tags - virtually any application where a single-sided personalized plastic card is a better solution.
"The new P200 Series printers will allow integration of plastic card solutions into more applications across a variety of retail, hospitality and commercial markets, because of their ease of use, compact footprint and competitive price," said Veraje Anjargolian, general manager of card printer operations.
Pricing/Availability
The Eltron P200 Series printers will begin shipping in mid-September. List price of the monochrome P205 model is $1,695. The full color Eltron P210 printer has a suggested list price of $2,195. Both models feature a full one-year printer warranty, including optional "hot-swap" service for units installed in the United States. An extended multi-year warranty program is also available. |
