| ID Badges to be Printed On-Site and Via Ethernet for Participants at Summer Games in Cleveland |
CAMARILLO, Calif., July 13, 2004 — Zebra Technologies (NASDAQ: ZBRA), a worldwide leader in bar code labeling and card printing solutions, today announced that it is an official sponsor of the International Children's Games. The Games, which will be held July 30 to Aug. 2 in Cleveland, Ohio, are an Olympic-affiliated event for youth aged 12-15, who will compete with athletes from around the world. The event is expected to draw more than 3,000 athletes and their coaches from more than 50 countries.
Zebra card printers will be used to create high quality, on-site identification cards for athletes and coaches, plus the thousands of other participants at the International Children's Games. Total ID Solutions of Cleveland (www.totalidsolutions.com) chose Zebra printers to be used at the Games. Total ID Solutions’ president Michael Sloe said that his firm selected Zebra printers for their reliability and easy-to-use features to create secure identification cards on demand at the point of issuance.
"It’s a sign of the times that safety and security are now paramount at events, even at a sporting competition involving children," said Bob Anderson, worldwide marketing director for Zebra Card Printer Solutions. "We are extremely pleased to be part of the International Children's Games in part because we believe that the use of Zebra printers for identification cards will make the event more secure for everyone."
The Games will use ten networked Zebra P320i printers on site. The P320i is an easy-to-use, full color, single sided card printer housed in a rugged metal enclosure with a hardware lock, top viewing window, LCD display and security passcode feature.
With its built-in Ethernet capability, ICG officials can simply plug in a Zebra P320i card printer anywhere on their local area network and be ready to print. External Ethernet components, power adaptors and cables are eliminated, and printers can be managed from anywhere on the network.
Zebra card printers are a part of personal identification programs worldwide, including international sporting events, amusement park and hospitality applications, club memberships and employee identification, among others. The U.S. military creates ID cards for armed services personnel both at home and overseas, and more than 25 million driver's licenses per year are made with Zebra card printers. |
