The recession may be over, but retailers are now faced with increasing costs, reduced consumer spending and more competition, both from international players and Internet retailers. This session examines the trends and drivers forcing retailers to adopt new technologies to take advantage of these changing dynamics. Brian Ardinger, senior VP and chief marketing officer at Nanonation, will be leading this session to help you learn what solutions retailers from around the world are implementing now and in the future, and discover the benefit messages that retailers really want to hear.
About Brian Ardinger
Brian Ardinger is senior VP and chief marketing officer at Nanonation, a leading software company creating customer experience technologies from kiosks to digital signage. Brian is a regular contributor to industry publications, a public speaker and a quoted industry expert with more than 20 years of experience in interactive media, marketing consulting and research. Prior to joining Nanonation, Brian was head of research at Ion Global, a Hong Kong-headquartered technology firm where he developed Asia’s first dedicated customer experience lab to analyze and measure how customers utilized technology in their shopping and online experiences. In addition to his work overseas, Brian has been a senior consultant with Gartner, based in Silicon Valley, where he implemented strategy and research for multinational companies around the world and managed projects in industries ranging from software to telecommunications. He holds a bachelor’s degree in marketing from the University of Nebraska in Omaha and an M.B.A. from Penn State.

About Mark Neuenschwander
Mark Neuenschwander, of Bellevue, Washington, is considered by many as the world’s leading expert in the field of drug dispensing automation and bar code point-of-care systems. He is best noted for The Neuenschwander Reports, the latest of which is entitled “To The Bedside 2: An Expanded Review of Bar-Code Point of Care Solutions.” Mark was a leading advocate and activist for promoting federal regulation to require bar codes on all medication packaging. In 2002, he testified before the FDA on proposed regulations related to bar code labeling of medications. An engaging communicator and insightful consultant, he has clients across the United States and throughout the world in Canada, Australia, Italy and The Netherlands. Neil Davis, editor of Hospital Pharmacy, says, “I don’t know of anyone more knowledgeable about medication use automation than Mark Neuenschwander. Before you commit in this area, it makes sense to consult with the expert.” Mark is the 2010 recipient of the Institute for Safe Medication Practices Lifetime Achievement Award.

AVISIAN founder Chris Corum has worked on card technology, identity management and alternative payment projects for more than 20 years. He has worked with smart card integrators and both state and federal governments on large-scale credentialing initiatives. Through AVISIAN’s identity consulting arm, he has advised federal agencies, defense contractors, universities, financial institutions and corporations. The company’s identity publishing efforts include a suite of 13 online and two print magazines. He holds a bachelor’s degree in advertising and a master’s degree in information technology, and has completed doctoral studies in communication.

About Grant Hunter Grant Hunter is currently VP of community awareness and education for GS1 US, the not-for-profit organization that collaborates with industry to create more efficient, safer and sustainable value chains through the GS1 global standards, including the UPC/EAN bar code system, EPCglobal RFID standards, and various EDI e-commerce and data sharing standards. He joined GS1 US in 2009 as the VP of EPCglobal US. Grant has more than 15 years of experience in B2B information and technology markets, including executive roles at IHS, GE and Knovel, and is an adjunct professor of marketing at Rutgers University.
