Lifeguard for Android Updates

A recent Google Playstore update has exposed a potential issue that is causing some Zebra mobile computers to Enter Rescue Party Mode (a text menu reporting 'Can't load Android system...' giving options to 'Try again' or 'Factory data reset').  This issue is not limited to Zebra mobile devices.  A device may enter Rescue Party Mode for various reasons.  This specific issue started December 18, 2023, and affects Zebra devices using Android version 10 and lower operating systems (Android 11 and above are not affected).  Zebra is releasing updates with the fix provided by Google.  Visit the Zebra support portal to download the Updates that include the resolution for Android 10 products. Contact Zebra support for more details.

Lifeguard Security Bulletins

Note: delivery time of security updates may vary depending on the region, product model, and third party software suppliers. While Zebra makes every attempt to align release of security updates with chipset vendor security bulletins, some patches may require additional time to ensure adequate quality review. Patches will be included in the next scheduled update as ready. Please see individual device support pages for specific guidance.

Disclaimer: Zebra makes every attempt to release security updates on or about the time that Google releases its respective security bulletin. However, delivery time of security updates may vary depending on the region, product model, and third party software suppliers. Under some circumstances, the OS must be updated to the latest maintenance release prior to installing the security updates. Individual product updates will provide specific guidance.
Unless otherwise noted, there have been no reports of active customer exploitation or abuse from these newly reported issues.
