Wireless Markup Language (WML) is a text based method of designing a menu structure for the display screen of selected printers. By leveraging Set/Get/Do (SGD) and files containing Zebra Programming Language (ZPL) commands, custom menus can be created.

These six example .wml files build from a simple, display only, WML menu to more complex interactive examples that makes use of Set/Get/Do commands and a config.nrd file used to print a configuration label (when selected fro the menu).

These examples are explained in detail in the Programming Guide for ZPL ll, ZBI 2, SGD, Mirror & WML. The guide - part number P1012728-002 - can be downloaded from the Zebra.com web site. See chapter L, Wireless Markup Language (WML) for details.

These example files can be sent to the printer using FTP, as detailed in the manual. The sixth example index.wml file leverages the ! CISDFCRC16 command so that it can be sent to the printer using a serial, parallel, USB cable or an IP connection over port 9100. The file will download and installs an index.wml file along with a config.nrd file that is used to print a configuration label (when selected from the menu).

The clearWML.txt file can be sent to the printer to delete both the index.wml and config.nrd file at the same time. A power cycle of the printer after sending this file will return the front panel to the factory Printer Ready menu system.

NOTE: when using WML, the index.wml file must reside on the printer's E: drive for the WML menu to display. If the index.wml file is on a drive other than E:, then the standard front panel menus display.
