FX Connect

FX Connect can be configured using this page. FX Connect is a feature that allows the FXSeries readers to be configured to perform inventory and push tag data to the specified end point. The current FX connect configuration is retrieved and displayed before the FX connect configuration settings are changed. Also after changing the configuration, reader needs to be rebooted before the changes take effect.

  • FX Connect Mode: - Specifies the mode in which FX Connect needs to be operate. Primarily allows the user to choose the communication end point for the FX Connect feature. FX connect mode can be configured as below:

  • Disable: - Disabled mode will disable HTTP post and reader will not be able to push any tag data over HTTP post. By default, HTTP post will be disabled.

  • HTTP Post - In this configuration tag data can be posted to server with HTTP Post method. Once configured in this mode, reader is enabled to run inventory operation and Tag report will be pushed to server over HTTP post. This mode enables configuration for HTTP Post, inventory operations and data to be pushed over HTTP post. These parameters can be configured with below sections:
    • Connect: - HTTP post can be configured using below parameters:
      • Reader Name: - The string identifier to associate with this reader. This allows multiple readers to POST data to the same database.
      • URL: - The address of HTTP server URL to post data.
      • Post Interval: - The period, in seconds, that FX Connect will POST data to the web server.
      • Verify Peer: - Specifies whether the validation of peer against the same certification authority issued certificate is required. If user selects options to validate peer, HTTP Post service on the reader will allow connection for valid secure peer entities only if the certificate of peer is issued from same certification authority that issued certificate for reader. By default, reader comes up with self-signed certificates, and the option to enable peer certificate based validation will be disabled by default.
      • Verify Host: - Dictates whether to verify the certificate's name against the host. Disabling will allow for self-signed certifications.
      • Authentication: - The Type of Authentication to use when connecting to the Remote or Proxy Server.
        • NONE: - No Authentication at all.
        • BASIC: - Sends the user name and password in plain text over the network.
        • DIGEST: - RFC 2617
        • DIGEST_IE: - RFC 2617 but uses a special "quirk" that IE is known to have used before version 7 and some servers require.
        • NTLM: - Challenge-response and hash concept similar to Digest.
        • ANY: - FX Connect will automatically select the one it finds most secure.
        • ANYSAFE: - FX Connect will automatically select any except BASIC that it finds most secure.
      • Username: - The username required to connect to the Remote or Proxy Server for certain Authentication types.
      • Password: - The password required to connect to the Remote or Proxy Server for certain Authentication types.
      • Proxy Server: - The Proxy Server Name or IP address with which to connect (when specified).
      • Proxy Port: - The Proxy Server Port to connect to.
      • Proxy Tunnel: - Dictates whether to tunnel through HTTP Proxy.
      • Proxy Authentication: - Same as HTTP POST Authentication above except this is for the Proxy server.
      • Proxy Username: - Same as HTTP POST Username above except this is for the Proxy server.
      • Proxy Password: - Same as HTTP POST Password above except this is for the Proxy server.

    • Configure Antenna Power: -This configuration will enable user to select transmit power level for particular antennas.By default, max transmit power value supported by reader will be selected for each antennas.

    • Tag Field Selection: - With this section; user can choose Tag Data Report fields to be sent over HTTP post to server. The fileds can be chosen from Antenna ID, EPC, RSSI, Seen Count,TID,User Memory Bank etc. by selecting corresponding check-box.By Default EPC will be selected.
      • Note: - TID and/or User Bank cannot be used along with Periodic reporting.
      • HeartBeat: - If enabled, the reader will periodically send heartbeat string (********) to indicate that the reader is up and running.
        • Note: - The period, in seconds, indicates the minimum delay before sending out another heartbeat string.

    • Inventory Control Parameters: - These are control options for some inventory parameters. This section has options for Inventory Start/Stop Triggers, Sessions to run inventory on, and Periodic Reporting time value. These parameters can be configured to run inventory as per the requirement.

    • Pre Filters: - Looks up a localized string similar to For a prefix match: ABC123*, or simply ABC123 For a suffix match: *ABC123 For multiple prefix and/or suffix matches: ABC1*,*DE,*4567.
      • Note:
        • Filtering is done using pre-filters (up to the 2 allowed) and based on 96bits EPC ID
        • Pre-filters will be created based on the current zone singulation settings.
    • GPO Event Selection: - These are control options for GPO Ports. This section has options for changing GPO port from High to Low or Low to High during inventory.
      • Inventory Start: - To change the port state on start of inventory mention port number, port state it should be changed to, time in seconds to reset the port.
