In a mobile world, nothing is static. After your network is deployed, it can still be affected by transient sources of interference, changing usage patterns, and physical obstructions. The LiveRF module helps you monitor changes in your network performance by collecting and analyzing real-time data gathered from your WLAN infrastructure, equipping your administrators with the tools they need to operate a more reliable wireless network.
Network monitoring is necessary after deploying a wireless network to ensure reliability of necessary applications. Network visualizations provide streamlined troubleshooting for issues such as transient sources of interference, changing usage patterns, and changes to physical obstructions in the environment. The LiveRF module addresses these challenges by collecting and analyzing data gathered from the deployed network to create real time 2D coverage maps of the RF signal propagation and application coverage. Monitoring and visualizations help IT staff improve network reliability by allowing resolution of coverage problems before users are negatively impacted.
LiveRF visualizations are based on real-time network configuration settings and performance statistics collected directly from WLAN infrastructure. This real-time visualization of your RF environment lets you view coverage and understand the impact of network changes, providing a much simpler way to analyze the network than reviewing raw data. Identifying problems and understanding the current network is easier and your users experience less downtime. LiveRF also provides side-by-side comparative analysis to address another common challenge with wireless networks – understanding what is normal for your particular environment. Compare the current live view with a known healthy environment for more advanced troubleshooting.
The LiveRF module also performs sophisticated RF propagation analysis taking into account the RF characteristics of your 3D environment, including objects such as walls, floors and ceilings. LiveRF compares the analyzed coverage data to the expected coverage and proactively lets you know when wireless applications will no longer operate in your environment. Monitoring can include predefined applications such as VoWLAN, mobile computing devices, or basic Wi-Fi connectivity. You can customize nine different variables to monitor your environment for the requirements of your unique applications. This proactive monitoring helps you detect reduced network coverage faster, so issues can be resolved before an end user reports a problem.
RF predictive planning is also part of LiveRF. This feature not only provides predicts RF performance on imported floor plan models from Zebra's LANPlanner solution, but also lets you create RF intelligent floor plans from scratch. Designs created or modified with the LiveRF tool are compatible and may be opened into LANPlanner for additional analysis and modifications.
The LiveRF module runs on the Zebra AirDefense Services Platform and requires no additional hardware for functionality. The Zebra AirDefense Services Platform offers seamless integration of wireless Security & Compliance solutions, WLAN Infrastructure Management, and Network Assurance tools that centrally troubleshoot user connectivity issues and fix WLAN performance problems. The AirDefense Services Platform is the industry’s first comprehensive service oriented platform that can be leveraged by enterprise IT to dramatically reduce TCO and achieve quicker ROI from their WLAN.
