Additional Characters Added When Scanning Using the Wavelink TE Client

Question

Why are additional characters added when scanning? Why does the Wavelink TE client add additional characters to every scanned barcode?

Answer

Hidden characters may be sent to host when the Emulation Parameter "Use Timing Mark Heartbeat" is enabled. Some Host applications may not know what to do with this data and in those case the data is applied as scanned data.

Extra Hex characters include FF FD 06.

Host displays "Unknown Characters" after scanning a barcode.

When the setting for HEX Echo Back is enabled there are additional characters added after the ENTER (\0D) to the decoded barcode data.

To resolve this issue disable the Emulation Parameter "Use Timing Mark Heartbeat".
