Issue / Question
Is there a way to "default" a printer that will remove all customer settings and files and optionally "write" over the printers memory chip multiple times to fully erase all traces of old data?
Applicable To
Link-OS printers starting with Link-OS 6.0
Resolution / Answer
To decommission a printer the ~PM command can be used as follows:
~PM456c766973
Where 456c766973 is the printer's serial number.
The printer will reset all settings, delete user files, including fonts, graphics and certificates.
To decommision a printer and overwrite user memory the following command syntax can be used:
~PM456c766973,1
Where 1 is the number of times to overwrite the user memory (max is 3 times)
The printer will reset all settings, delete user files, including fonts, graphics, certificates and overwrite the memory the number of requested times.
NOTE: A complete memory overwrite will take time to finish (approximately 20 minutes). How long will vary by printer model.
