Issue / Question
Locking Monza R6 Tags
ZD500R, ZT410R, ZT420R, ZT610R and ZT620R
Resolution / Answer
Monza R6 tags do not give the ability to lock each memory bank separately like other Gen 2 chips. They only provide a method to permalock all of the memory.
The ^RLM command previously had 4 parameters (^RLM,k,a,e,u) that represent the function for each of the memory areas of a tag: kill password, access password, EPC Memory bank, User Memory bank. The TID memory of a tag is always permanently locked at the chip manufacturer, but in order to lock the Monza R6 tag, we need to specify that explicitly in the command sent to the reader.
The change implemented for Monza 6 extends the ^RLM command to have a 5th parameter, ‘t’, which represents the TID memory bank. Hence, to permalock a Monza 6 tag, ^RLM,P,P,P,P,P must be specified.
||NOTE Monza R6 does not support the use of passwords.
||NOTE ZebraDesigner Version 3 and ZebraDesigner Pro Version 2.5 do not support the specific parameter required for Monza 6 tags. As a workaround, manually add the ZPL to the label.
