Issue / Question

What is the Applicator Interface (I/O) Option?

Applicable To

Xi3+, Xi4, PAX4, ZT600 and ZE500

Resolution / Answer

The Xi3 Plus, Xi4 and ZT600 tabletop printers have the Applicator Interface (I/O) as an available option.

The PAX4 and ZE500 print engine printers have the Applicator Port installed from the factory.

The Applicator Interface is an ideal method of integrating Zebra Xi3 Plus, Xi4, PAX4 and ZE500 printers into custom applications.

This interface allows printer control from a Personal Computer or Programmable Language Controller (PLC) via one cable attached to a 15-pin connector located at the rear of the printer. This provides the capability of placing the printers on a production line in a loose loop, print and apply configuration, or other applications where the printer must be controlled by a machine.

The print engine communicates with a customer applicator through a series of signals on the pins in the DB-15 connector which is present on the rear panel of the print.
The applicator input signals allow an external device to control when the printer prints.
The applicator output signals provide handshaking and status information to the external host.

Applicator Interface connector pin configurations and additional information about each pin and signal are available in our Knowledgebase at the below link:
