Issues scanning barcodes printed on cards from the ZXP Series 8 Card Printer

Barcode scanners or verifiers look for precise reflective patterns that comprise the data in a barcode to be properly interpreted. These patterns must be produced with proper reflectance and closely defined widths for accurate readability. Variation in these parameters can affect the grade and readability of the data encoded in the barcode.

The most frequent cause of a barcode readability problem is a user printing the barcode with the color panels rather than the black panel of the color ribbon. Since the barcode is most likely being sent as a graphic we need to set the printing preferences in the windows driver to print the black portions of a graphic with the black panel, this process is called “black extraction”
