Why AP4131 Cannot Authenticate Users via an External Access Control List?

Facts

The AP4131 supports a local Access Control List (ACL) only and cannot be configured to forward MAC Addresses to an external server for authentication.

Answer

ACL MAC addresses cannot be configured on an external server.
ACL MAC addresses must be locally configured on the AP4131.
  1. From the AP4131 serial interface Main Menu select Set Access Control List then press Enter.
  2. Choose RANGE or INDIVIDUAL then press Enter.
  3. Select ADD and enter the desired MAC addresses or MAC Address range, then press Enter.
  4. When configuring individual MAC addresses repeat step 3 for each MAC address entry.
  5. When finished press ESC to exit to the main menu.
  6. Select Set System Configuration then press Enter.
  7. Change Access Control List or Disallow to enable the MAC address authentication via the ACL configured locally on the A-P4131.
  8. Select Save.
  9. Select Yes.
  10. From the Main Menu select Special Functions.
  11. Select Reset AP.
  12. Select Yes.
