Article ID: 67428635

Symptom

AP5131 Initial Setup: Default IP Address Is Not Accessible Cannot connect to the AP5131 using the default IP address 192.168.0.1. Cannot ping default IP address 192.168.0.1.

Facts

AP5131

Resolution

Causes could be any of the following:
  • No power to the AP5131
  • Defective Ethernet cable
  • Ethernet cable is not connected to the AP5131’s LAN port
  • PC is not configured correctly
  • 92.168.0.1 subnet is not configured to use the AP5131’s Ethernet port
  • Default IP address was changed

1.     If a defective Ethernet cable is the problem, then replace it with a known working Ethernet cable.
·         Swap the defective cable with a known working Ethernet straight-through cable.

2.     Make sure the AP5131 is connected to an active electrical outlet and/or that the correct power supply is being used.
·         The AP5131 can be powered by using a DC power supply (Symbol Part# 50-24000-050), a power injector (Symbol Part# AP-PSBIAS-1P2-AFR), or any 802.3af compliant switch.

3.     To access the AP5131 using the default IP address 192.168.0.1, the PC must be directly connected to the AP5131’s LAN port, using a straight-through cable.
·         Connect the Ethernet cable to the AP5131’s LAN port. If you are using power injector AP-PSBIAS-1P2-AFR, connect the Ethernet cable to the Data In port.
·         Configure the PC with an IP address that is on the same network as the AP5131.
·         The PC must be on the same subnet as the AP5131. The default IP address is 192.168.0.1 with a subnet mask of 255.255.255.0; therefore, the PC must have an IP address that is within the range 192.168.0.2 through 192.168.0.253. The subnet mask must be 255.255.255.0. Since the PC is directly connected to the AP5131, no additional IP information is required
·
4.      If the 192.168.0.1 subnet is not accessible, then access the AP5131 through the WAN port.
·         If the default IP address was changed, then access the AP5131 through the WAN port.
·         If the default IP address was changed, then follow step 5 and access the AP5131 through the WAN port.
·         If the 192.168.0 subnet is inaccessible because it is not configured to use the Ethernet port, then change the PC IP address to 10.1.1.10 with a subnet mask of 255.0.0.0 and connect the PC to the AP5131’s WAN port. The AP5131 can be accessed by typing 10.1.1.1 in the browser’s address field.
