Resolution / Answer

Overview:

By default, the DS3678 Radio Communications Host is set to Cradle Host. See page 78 of the DS36x8 Product Reference Guide.
If the DS3678 will be connected directly to the Zebra mobile device or PC/ tablet/ phone running a Zebra scanner SDK application, we need to select the host type Simple Serial Interface (SSI).
For this article will be using a VC80x Android mobile device and host type SSI BT Classic (Non-discoverable)
 

Test setup: 

VC80x Android Nougat 
- Version: 7.1.2 
- Build# 01-01-49-NN-00-A-U07 
- Device update version: 12 (LifeGuard Update is 12)
- Also tested on device update version 07

DS3678 Bluetooth scanner 
- Release 004 - 2018.05.17 (SAACKS00-004-R02) 

 

Solution: 

1. Scan the following barcodes:

- Set Factory Defaults - page 135 | User Preferences & Miscellaneous Options 5 - 5.
- SSI BT Classic (Non-discoverable)' -  page 83 | Radio Communications 4-5.
- Disable Pair on Contacts - page 113 | Radio Communications 4-37.

2. If using the pairing barcode (PAIR) on the VC80x housing, make sure Bluetooth is enabled 
3. If using the Bluetooth Pairing Utility from Android apps, if Bluetooth is not enabled, it will prompt you enable Bluetooth.
4. Scan the pairing barcode 
5. DS3678 will be paired and connected 
6. For scan test, you can use DWDemo
