By default, lnk file extension is hidden from PC's user in Win 7 or Win 10

Resolution / Answer
Please Ensure that before any Registry changes are performed you have backed-up your Registry.
Steps:
- Create a registry file with below content:
[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\lnkfile] "NeverShowExt"=- [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\InternetShortcut] "NeverShowExt"=- [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\piffile] "NeverShowExt"=- [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\SHCmdFile] "NeverShowExt"=- [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\ShellScrap] "NeverShowExt"=- [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\DocShortcut] "NeverShowExt"=- [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\xnkfile] "NeverShowExt"=-
- Run the registry file from your PC screen and reboot your PC.
- After reboot, lnk extension is available for you to modify.
