Article ID: 60184575
Issue / Question
What HEX values are used for Roll Up and Roll Down when using Wavelink 5250 Emulation Software? Is this the same as Page Up and Page Down?
This applies to WM and CE devices running Wavelink 5250 Emulation Software.
Resolution / Answer
The Roll Up and Roll Down options within the Wavelink 5250 Emulation Software will "roll" the additional screen data either up or down on your display.
Wavelink does not have a Page Up or Page Down option.
Within the Wavelink KeyMap for the Zebra devices, Wavelink supports the Roll Up and Roll Down options.
As an example, please refer to the following KeyMap:
Each WM or CE device running Wavelink 5250 Emulation Software will have a key sequence for Roll Up and Roll Down.
This sequence is for a MC92N0 CE7 device using the 53 key Common Keyboard.
The HEX Values associated with each sequence are below:
Roll Up = 4900
Roll Down = 5100
I think of the Roll Up and Roll Down as a round scroll. When you Roll Up the scroll (clockwise) you are seeing more information toward the bottom of the list.
When you perform a Roll Down (counter-clockwise) the data on the scroll goes toward the top of the list.
This will confuse some customer's so in turn, they will create a KeyMacro to swap these values with a sequence they are familiar with. There is no problem in doing this.
Roll Up - acts like a Page Down, and views the data toward the bottom of the list.
Roll Down - acts like a Page Up, and views the data toward the top of the list.
