Applicable To

VH10, Omnii XT15

Resolution / Answer

The steps to update the Multi-Image firmware version of a VH10 and XT15 are similar.

CAUTION Any in-memory temporary storage device settings will be lost. These include Registry settings, Power and Display, Wireless Radio configuration, Apps installed to \Program Files, and so forth. Files and applications saved to the onboard Flash Disk will not be erased.

VH10:

To update the operating system software of the VH10, follow the procedure below:

  1. The firmware can be upgraded using a USB Memory Stick 32GB or less formatted as FAT or FAT32.
  2. The firmware file must be renamed 7545os.img.
  3. Copy the file containing the firmware upgrade to the root directory of the USB memory stick and not in any folder.
  4. Boot the VH10 to the Boot Menu; press and hold down the "Blue' key, the "Space bar" and the "Red \ Enter key", all together for 6 seconds.
  5. Insert the USB memory stick into a VH10 USB Port.
  6. The update will begin. When completed, the device will boot to the updated OS multi-image.
  7. Remove the USB memory stick (can be removed when the OS is loading).

XT15:

To update the operating system software of the XT15, follow the procedure below:

  1. The firmware can be upgraded using a USB Memory Stick 32GB or less formatted as FAT or FAT32.
  2. The firmware file must be renamed 7545os.img.
  3. Copy the file containing the firmware upgrade to the root directory of the USB memory stick not in any folder.
  4. Boot the XT15 to the Boot Menu; press and hold down the "Blue\FN' key, the "Scan Key (Yellow or Grey)" and the "Red \ Enter key \ Power key", all together for 6 seconds.
  5. Insert the USB memory stick in the back of the XT15 USB cradle, and insert the XT15 into the cradle.
  6. The XT15 will see the file name and the update will begin. When completed, the device will boot to the updated OS multi-image.
  7. Remove the USB memory stick (can be removed when the OS is loading).

If the OS update does not begin

  • Confirm the correct file name is used and the file is in the root of the USB drive.
  • In some cases, the boot menu may indicate the USB drive is inserted and the USB drive may even be visible to the CE or WM File Manager, but will not load the 7545OS.img or 7545.img files on the drive.
  • Reformatting the USB drive with the Quick Format option unchecked may resolve the issue.

  • However, some USB drives are just not compatible when used in the Boost mode. Using a different model USB drive may resolve the issue.
