Testing the LS3408 for Data Transmission in HyperTerminal

LS3408 connecting via RS232 is not transmitting data.

Root Cause


The scanner’s parameters may not match the RS-232 parameters of the application.



Use the communication program, HyperTerminal, to test for RS232 data transmission.

  1. Open HyperTerminal and name the session; for example, “test”.  Click OK.

  2.  Select the communication port that the scanner is connected to.

  3. Select restore defaults to the settings of 9600 bits per second, data bits 8, parity none, stop bits 1 and flow control none. Click OK.

  4. Scan the “ Set all defaults” barcode:

  5. Scan the “ Standard RS232C” host type barcode: This will set the scanner for the same settings as set in the HyperTerminal session.

  6. Scan a barcode to test.
