How to pair and connect an LS3578 Bluetooth rugged scanner to an VC5090 Windows CE 5.0 mobile computer?

Details

 

1. Install DataWedge v3.3 (make sure it is installed in the \Application partition)

2. Configure DataWedge
a. From Start> Settings> Control Panel> DataWedge> Advanced Configuration> Profile> Profile0> Input> Serial> COM9: BT Serial
b. Tap on Enabled (this will put a check mark before the number 1 which means it is now enabled)
c. Go back to Profile0
d. Then open Routes> Route0> Input> Plugin>
e. Tap on Serial  (this will put a check mark before the number 2 which means it is now set to Serial)
f. Tap Back until you can exit Advanced configuration.
g. Check here if DataWedge ‘Running’ is equal to Yes. If not tap to toggle to Yes.
 
3. Configure BTExplorer
a. Create a registry file (.reg) with the below keys:
 
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Stonestreet One\BTExplorer\Device Settings]
"ConnectabilityMode" = dword:00000001
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Stonestreet One\BTExplorer\Device Profiles]
"Profile1" = "0, |Serial Port 1|, 10, 9, 57600, 0, 0"
"NumberProfiles" = dword:00000001
 
b. Save this .reg file unto the VC5090 \Application folder
c. Cold boot (P1 + P3 + Power)
 
4. Configure LS3578 for SPP Master

5. Connect LS3578 to VC5090
a. Create a pairing barcode (as per LS3578 PRG – section 4-24; e-page 68). 123Scan can be use to generate a pairing barcode

b.Scan this pairing barcode to connect the LS3578 to VC5090

Note: You can only connect a second scanner if the previous one has already disconnected. This scanner can either be out of range, battery removed or the “Unpairing’ barcode was scanned (DS3678 PRG 4-32; e-page 90)
