How to configure a WAP4 to act as a cordless scanner connected to a Windows PC running IPWedge?
Applicable To
Workabout Pro 4
Resolution / Answer
Overview:
IPWedge is an application which allows a device running DataWedge to act as a cordless scanner. IPWedge runs on a desktop PC, receives data from the IP Output Plug-in for DataWedge and sends that data to the foreground window on the desktop PC as either keystrokes or via the clipboard.
Solution:
1. Download and install IPWedge v1.2 for DataWedge (IPWedge.msi) on your desktop PC. Once installed, an icon will appear in the taskbar.
Default settings should work fine.
2. On the WAP4 DataWedge settings, point the default profile, Profile0, IP Output to the IP (Host) address of the target desktop PC.
DataWedge settings> Advanced configuration> Profile0> Output> IPOutput> Host> set here the IP address of the target PC. Example, target PC IP address is 10.65.3.66.
3. And also set the default route, Route0, output plugin to IP output.
DataWedge settings> Advanced configuration> Profile0> Routes> Route0> Output> Plugin> IP output.
At this point, when you scan a barcode from the WAP4 using DataWedge, it will receive data from the IP Output Plug-in and sends that data to the foreground window on the desktop PC.
