The MZ series printers can utilize either black mark media or journal media.  Black mark media has a black line on the back of the media.  Journal media is receipt type paper that has no black bars or gaps between labels.

The SETFF command can be used to specify the amount fed when the feed button is pressed, a form-feed character (0x0c) is received or a FORM command is recevied.   This command used with the JOURNAL command are useful in specifying the amount fed when using JOURNAL media.

Syntax:    COMMAND maximum amount fed skip-length
COMMAND:   SETFF

  • maximum amount fed:  This is the maximum amount that the printer advances seraching for a black mark.   Valid values are 0-20,000 (dots)
  • skip-length:  This is the amount that the printer advances past the top of the form.  Valid values are 5-50 (dots)
