G-Series Printer Feed Button Mode Details

Resolution / Answer

The below function can be triggered in the following mode:
 

 

The Feed Button can be used to enable functional modes allowing you to configure or print the following:
 

  • Print a Configuration Label (Power ON Mode)
  • Enable label calibration (Power ON Mode)
  • Reset the serial communications parameters  (if it has a serial port option) (Power ON Mode)
  • Reset to factory defaults  (Power ON Mode)
  • Set the printer print width  (Power ON Mode)
  • Set the printer darkness  (Power ON Mode)
  • Perform Manual Calibration  (Power ON Mode)
  • Enable communications diagnostic. See the information below. (Power OFF or ON Mode)



Power OFF Mode

While the Printer is in the OFF state, Press and Hold the Feed key when the Printer is booting up. At the various stage of the LED flashing Sequence will result in the printer entering that specific mode
 

Release the feed button when LED Flashing Amber to Red Firmware Download Mode:
  • At this stage, the printer is ready to start downloading firmware and you can send the firmware directly to the printer.
  • When the status light begins to slowly flash between red and green is when it is receiving the download the firmware.
Release the feed button when LED is in Amber
 
The printer will boot up like normal skipping firmware download and communication diagnostic mode.
Release the feed button when LED is in Green Communications Diagnostic (Dump) Mode:
  • The printer will print ‘Now in DUMP’ at the top of the label and then advance to the next label.
  • After printing the first label, the printer will automatically enter into a diagnostic mode in which the printer prints out a literal representation of all data subsequently received.
  • To exit the diagnostic mode and resume printing, turn off and then turn on the printer or press the Feed button as many times as it takes to clear the printer’s command buffer and print ‘Out of DUMP’ on the label.


Power ON Mode

When the Printer is ON by pressing and holding the Feed Button can be used to enable functional modes allowing you to configure or print the following:
 

1 flash on LED and release the FEED button Print a Configuration Label.
2 flashes on LED and release the FEED button Enable label calibration.
3 flashes on LED and release the FEED button Reset the serial communications parameters  (if it has a serial port option).
4 flashes on LED and release the FEED button Reset to factory defaults.
5 flashes on LED and release the FEED button Set the printer print width.
6 flashes on LED and release the FEED button Set the printer darkness.
7 flashes on LED and release the FEED button Perform Manual Calibration will be preform and the printer will print the Sensor profile.
Release FEED button  when LED turn Green Communications Diagnostic (Dump) Mode:
  • Enable communications diagnostic with printer print on the label "Now in Dump".
  • Any data sent to the printer will print on the label allowing you to see commands and data sent to the printer communication port.
  •  Press Feed to exit the Diagnostic mode. "Out of Dump" will print

NOTE Software or Driver configurations can overwrite printer configured settings. If settings are changed after sending a label request from your application or program verify your software or driver configurations
