Question

How to Format the EEPROM on a 3000 Series or 6000 Series DOS Terminal?

Answer

The error message: “Communication Error” occurs when attempting to load an application onto a 3000 series or 6000 series DOS terminal.
Data may not be completely erased.

EEPROM, a non-volatile memory, needs to be formatted.
  1. Cold boot the terminal.
  2. When the device has booted for about 2 seconds, press CTRL, then C.  The D prompt ( D:\ ) will be displayed.
  3. Type FLSHFMT then press Enter to perform the formatting.
