Facts

The CBPCfg utility only stores the wireless profiles that have been configured on the device. It does not save the IP address information. Therefore when a cold boot is performed the device defaults back to DHCP. MC3000 Series Terminals

Answer

User ran the CBPCfg.exe located in the \Platform\Fusion folder to save his network settings but after a cold boot/Power loss, the IP address that was statically set is not saved.

Add a few extra lines to the registry key that was created when the user ran the CBPCfg file to store their network settings.
  1. Using ActiveSync copy the registry file you created with CBPCfg from your device to your PC.
  2. Edit the file using Notepad.
  3. Add the following lines to the file with the correct IP address information for the device:
    • [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\PCI\PHOTON1\PARMS\Tcpip]
      "EnableDHCP"=dword:00000000
      "IpAddress"="192.168.1.4"
      "Subnetmask"="255.255.255.0"
      "DefaultGateway"="192.168.1.1”
  4. Save the file and overwrite the existing file on the device using ActiveSync.
  5. Cold boot the terminal.
