Access the WS2000 using the CLI interface by connecting a NULL modem cable to the console port on the WS2000.  Open a terminal emulation program such as HyperTerminal and use connection settings :
  •  19,200 baud
  •  No Parity
  •  8 data bits
  •  1 Stop bit

Log into the CLI, configure the FTP or TFTP server settings and run the UPDATE command.

Firmware Upgrade Procedure
  1. First, you must set up an FTP or TFTP server on your network and copy the WS2000 firmware BIN file to the proper location on the server.
  2. Connect a NULL modem cable to the console port on your WS2000 switch and configure a terminal emulation program such as HyperTerminal for:
  • 19200 baud
  •  No Parity
  •  8 data bits
  •  1 Stop bit
  1.  Log into the CLI interface on the WS2000 (default login is admin and password is symbol but your login/password may be different).
  2. Type in the SYSTEM command to get to the system submenu.
  3. Type in CONFIG command to get to the config submenu.
  4. Type in the SET SERVER <IP address of the FTP or TFTP server> command to configure the FTP or TFTP server on the WS2000.
  5. If you are using an FTP server to perform your update:
  • Issue the SET USER<username> command to configure the username that the WS2000 will use to login to the FTP server when performing the update.
  • Issue the SET PASSWD<password> command to configure the password that the WS2000 will use to login to the FTP server when performing the update.
  1. Issue the SET FW FILE<filename> command to configure the name of the BIN file for the new firmware.
  2. Once the configuration is complete, issue the UPDATE command as follows:
          UPDATE <mode – FTP or TFTP ><Interface to be used – S1, S2, S3, S4, W >.:

                 Example: UPDATE TFTP S1 <enter>  (it will use TFTP for updating and go through Subnet1)
  1. Once completed, the WS2000 will reboot.
