Why am I getting an error when I try to activate my MCL license? Why am I getting an error 050 when I try to activate MCL?

Answer

"This License Number does not correspond to the product you are installing" error message.
Error 050

An Error 050 is generated when the MCL license number entered does not match the MCL program you are trying activate.
The following list will help to identify various MCL components:
Symbol MCL license starts with 27.
Datamax MCL license starts with 24.
Intermec MCL license starts with 23.
Generic MCL license starts with 20.

MCL Link 2.x starts with 2730-12xx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx.
MCL Link 1 COM 3.x starts with 2730-13xx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx.
MCL Link 1 for MT2000 starts with 2732-13xx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx.
MCL Designer 2.x license starts with 2780-12xx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx.
MCL Designer for Phaser starts with 2780-22xx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx.
MCL Designer 3.x license starts with 2780-13xx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx.
MCL Designer 3.x for MT2000 starts with 2780-23xx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx.
MCL Link Client 2.x license starts with 2713-12xx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx.

Hardware activation uses the hardware serial number hardware key and parallel or USB port on the back of the PC.
If the serial number starts with 7767-7684, then the hardware s/n is a parallel key.
If the serial number starts with 7767-7685, then the hardware s/n is a USB key.

Online/Offline activation applies to 3.X only.
