Label Home (^LH) modifies the position on all fields of a label by adding to the Field Position (^FOx,x) of each field in a format.  The default is ^LH0,0.

This document is intended to demonstrate the positioning changes this command impacts.

Note: Truncation (image cut off) can occur due to exceeding the printer's measured label length. Always make sure the fields with the greatest "Y" axis are not placed where they will extend beyond the printer's label length value.

Zebra Barcode printers view a label in terms of an X-Y matrix.  There is an x-axis (Horizontal) and y-axis (Vertical) value needed to position images based on the address provided in the ZPL Label Format. Printer resolution determines the actual values related to inches or millimeters.  The default Label Home (0,0) is identified as the upper left hand position of a label as viewed from the front of the printer. All image placement is relative to the home position. Label Home can be altered using the ^LH command with the following details taken into consideration.

Important: Always assure you have properly sized and positioned your label and format when creating your label to avoid having to modify offsets or shift commands. Most minor adjustments needed to make a label format print consistently are done using the Label Top and Left Shift settings. These settings compensate for minor printer to printer tolerances allowing you to position the image consistently on printers with the same resolution.

Below is an example of a label printed with the Label Home set at 0,0 (^LH0,0): We added grid lines to show image movement relative to the actual label outlined in red.

Below is an example of a label printed with the Label Home set at 10,10 (^LH10,10). The image is shifted based on the value entered in the ^LH delimiter values (10,10).

As you can see this will shift the printed image on the label the requested number of dots.  See label properties explanation below for information on which direction is right and which direction is down.  This is only recommended for minor adjustments to print positioning after you have assured the Label Top and Left Shift settings were properly adjusted. You may encounter image truncation or image cut off if you exceed the printer calibrated label length or width as shown in the above image.

Note: The ^LH values remain in effect until the printer is power cycled or another ^LH command is received.
