Question

What Is the Minimum PCS (Print Contrast Signal) Required for the MK2000 to Scan a Bar Code?

Facts

MK2000, MK1100

Answer

PCS= (RL – RD)/RL, where RL is the reflectance factor of the background and RD the reflectance factor or the dark bars.

Print Contrast Signal (PCS) is the measurement of the contrast (difference in brightness) between the bars and spaces of a bar code.  A minimum PCS value is needed for a bar code to be scanned.

The minimum PCS requirement for a bar code to be scanned by the MK1100 or MK2000 is 25%.
