How to Prevent Rogue Mobile Clients from Associating to AP4131 or AP4121 without a Matching ESSID
The “Accept Broadcast ESSID” has been enabled on the access point, causing the AP to include its unique ESSID within the ESSID probe response beacon, provided to mobile client.
Unauthorized wireless compliant devices are associating to access point.
Network administrator must take steps to disable the“Accept Broadcast ESSID” option in the AP.
- Telnet into the access point and enter Admin. Mode using password (Symbol is the default password).
- Select the “Set RF Configuration” menu by either using TAB to highlight or typing “R” as a “hot-key”.
- Tab to select the “Accept Broadcast ESSID” option; toggle the setting from enabled to disabled by using the space bar.
- Save setting change ([F1]), save to ALL AP’s ([F2]) and reset AP.
