Question

How Can an MC70 or MC35 Running Windows Mobile 5.0 Be Prevented from Performing a Wireless Network Detect Function at Boot-Up/Resume?

Facts

MC70, MC35

Answer

Some MC70 and MC35 units running Windows Mobile 5.0 will arbitrarily perform a Find WLAN task at device resume (power on).  The device user must address this notification prior to performing further device tasks.

Some Windows Mobile 5.0 devices will periodically perform a Wireless Network Detect function at boot-up; this task is automatically performed and enabled by default.

The Wireless Network Detect events notify function must be disabled.
  1. Go to Start à Settings à Sounds and Notifications.
  2. Tap the Notifications tab at the bottom of the screen.
  3. Find the Wireless Network Detected item in the Event combo box.
  4. Uncheck all the boxes.
  5. Tap OK.

This process is automatically cold-boot/severe power loss (main battery discharge) persistent.
