Printing a Backslash "\" character using ZebraDesigner for mySAP V2

Article ID: 33283077

Topic or Information

The backslash "\" does not print when using ZebraDesigner for mySAP Version 2.

Why can't I print the backslash character in my data field?

I upgraded from ZebraDesigner for mySAP Version 1 to Version 2 and now I am missing the "\" character in my data.

Applies To

Zebra Printers printing formats created in ZebraDesigner for mySAP Version 2
Excludes: 2824 Series, 2844 Series, S4M (E53 Firmware Version), 888 DD/TT Series, MZ Series, ZQ110, EM220, EM220II, All Kiosk (except KR403)

Features added to ZebraDesigner for mySAP Version 2 include allowance for justifying text – useful with multi-line and variable length data. To accomplish this the ZPL command ^FB command is included in the ITF file and ZPL code with all variable text fields created using ZebraDesigner for mySAP Version 2.

This feature did not exist and the ^FB command was not included when using Version 1.

Data streams that worked with version 1 now must include or require the backslash need to add an additional "\" to print the character correctly. Example enter "\\" to print a single slash.  This is stated in the ZPL Guide for ^FB.  (i.e. \\ = backslash (\)" as stated in the ^FB details) Read More>>

Note: For the ^FB command to generate ZPL code that will include enough space for your variable data from SAP enter Sample Data that represents the largest amount of variable data you expect for each variable field. This will assure that the Field Block will not truncate your data.
