Automatic forms ( autoform ) or stored forms allow you to send just the variable data to the printer. As soon as the last variable enters the printer the label/s will print. The autoforms or stored forms are written as EPL formats and saved in the printers memory.

Two types of forms can be stored in the printers memory. Stored forms and autoforms. An autoform can print labels on power up or upon receipt of variable data. Multiple stored forms can also be stored in the printers memory and will print when recalled and upon receipt of the variable data.

Stored forms

  • If the stored form is missing from the printers memory, or the EPL is written incorrectly, a label will not print.
  • Multiple stored forms can be saved in the printers memory. The EPL F commands are used to store ( FS ), retrieve ( FR ), delete ( FK ), print form list ( FI ), and end form store ( FE ).

Autoforms

  • To stop a form from printing at power up a stopform file needs to be sent to the printer along with a killform file.
  • If the autoform is missing from the printers memory, or the EPL is written incorrectly, a label will not print.
  • The EPL AUTOFR command is used for automatic form printing.

Note: No other forms can be stored in the printer if an autoform is used.

If an autoform or stored form is accidentally wiped out of the printers memory it will have to be downloaded again in order to print properly.
