Slow Printing Throughput - Hesitation Between Printing Labels

Article ID: 72610763

Topic or Information

The document link provides an explanation regarding the difference between print speed and throughput. A user may describe this as any of the following

  • Slow throughput of the printer job
  • Delay before job starts to print
  • Pause or hesitation between labels

Applies To

Zebra Printers

The printer is a command interpretation device that requires programming commands to map the image before the printing occurs  In summary, the printer must interpret the label format commands that are received from the host application. The time it takes to interpret these commands is usually unnoticed since this is done in fractions of a second or while a label print is in progress. If the application is either slow in delivering the entire label format or there is large numbers of graphic/font download (the driver renders all label content as a graphic) there may be a pause between labels.
