Symptom

Unable to Connect Mobile Device to a Non-Motorola Access Point Error - "Cannot Connect Due to Regulatory Error"

Facts

Applies to all mobile units running the Fusion supplicant except for the MC65 as that unit will automatically enable/disable support for 802.11d based on the infomration contained in the beacon from the AP.

Resolution

The AP you are trying to connect to does not support the 802.11d standard.

A Regulatory Error occurs when trying to connect a Motorola Mobile Unit to a non-Motorola AP such as a Linksys or Cisco AP.
  1. On the mobile device tap the Fusion icon that appears at the bottom of the display.  The Fusion window will open.
  2. Tap Options.
  3. Select Regulatory in the drop down box
  4. Disable 802.11d by removing the check mark in the box. 
  5. Click Save.
  6. The “Success” window will open.  Click OK.
  7. Close the Options window by clicking the X.
