Topic or Information
Kiosk printers have the ability to report a Low Paper media error. (The Low Paper sensor is optional) In order to avoid false responses a Low Paper sensor status averaging is performed.
Zebra Kiosk Printers (KR203, TTP2020, TTP2030, TTP7030)
To accomplish this, the Low Paper condition must be detected for 3 consecutive print cycles before reporting the condition (Paper Near End is displayed in the driver status). When paper is replenished the Low Paper condition will not change back to normal until 3 cycles detect the replenished paper.
In summary, each time the printer cuts paper the sensor is checked and according to the KR203 SW Integrations Guide, when the status has been low for three cuts it will change to Paper Near End. The sensor must see the replenished paper for three consecutive cuts to resolve this status and eliminate a Paper Near End error in the driver.
The correct reading from the Kiosk Windows driver is also available from the Zebra Kiosk OPOS Driver. The following Kiosk receipt printers are supported by both the Kiosk Windows driver and the Kiosk OPOS Driver:
