Question

Why AP4131 Does Not Encrypt Broadcast/Multicast Traffic when WEP Is Enabled?

Answer

Broadcast/Multicast traffic is passed from the AP4131 unencrypted even though WEP encryption has been set on the access point.
In a multi-ESSID environment, the broadcast/multicast traffic is sent out unencrypted in order to be accessible by multiple ESSIDs. With multiple security environments on the access point the broadcast/multicast traffic must be sent in the clear so that it is readable on each VLAN.
The AP4131 is working as designed.
