MC9090 Device Configuration Package Version 1.7 Release Notes

Introduction

The REV G software package for MC9090c50 with Windows CE v5.0 contains the binary images and the OSUpdate package corresponding to DCP version 1.7. The DCP provides tools necessary for customizing the associated Platform and Application images.

Description

General Enhancements

  • Fusion version 2.55.1.0.010R.
  • BTExplorer version 1.2.4 Build 14702.
  • AirBeam, Rapid Deployment Client & MSP Agent - version 4.43.
    - Fusion version 2.55.1.0.10r, which is included in this release, when used with MSP 3.1 or above, allows Staging (RD) and Provisioning to be used to configure two Fusion Options: 802.11d and Auto Time Config.
    - MSP 3.1.1 or above allows Staging (RD) and Provisioning to be used to configure AES encryption for all authentication types supported by MSP 3.1.1 for which Fusion supports AES encryption.
    - This software release has been tested on MSP 3.1 and 2.9 and passed MSP Compliance. 
  • Sample applications updated to SMDK for C v1.3. 
  • Added SMB server (Samba file server) installation file to the Application partition.
  • Scanner driver updates.
    - Improved memory footprint of Pixdll.dll
    - Supports Korean 3of5 barcodes
  • SPR12189 - Updated Copyfiles for copying files to nonexistent directories more that one level deep. 
  • Added support for Crypt API 2.0 and PFX files (required for Fusion 2.55+). 
  • Support for all European Regional settings. 
  • OSUpdate executable version 0.57. 
  • Windows CE 5.0 OS build with QFE updates till October 2007. 
  • Re-branding: DCP, PSDK. 
  • The DCP installation is applicable for all localized configurations. 
  • Heximages and OSUpdate files have been removed from DCP and are available as separate download.

General Issues Resolved 

  • Fixed Bluetooth 20 MB File Transfer failure issue. 
  • 2GB SD card support in IPL mode.
    Note: MMC cards are not supported in IPL mode, only SD cards are supported. 
  • SPR13476 - Fixed issue wherein Audio distortion occurs after playing .wav file several times. 
  • SPR14120 - Fixed issue wherein device has distorted audio when the sound clicks option is set to loud.

Enhancements in WLAN - Fusion 2.55.1.0.10R

Issues fixed in WLAN

  • SPR14567 - Corrected an issue where editing a profile using WEP encryption with no authentication could cause part of the WEP key to be revealed to the user. 
  • SPR14586 - Corrected issue where the SIP (Soft Input Panel) button disappeared on the Login dialog. 
  • SPR14387 - Corrected an issue causing excessive transmit retries when connected to an access point setup as 802.11b with Short Preamble enabled and 1 Mbps as the only basic (required) data rate. 
  • Corrected an issue where the WLAN radio would attempt to associate to access points using a null SSID upon initialization (following a resume or reboot).
  • SPR14372 - Corrected an issue where the mobile device would send a DHCP Discover upon resume. The device now properly sends a directed request for an IP address to the same server as before (a DHCP Request).
  • SPR13490 - Corrected a buffer overrun in MUDLL. 
  • SPR13815 - Corrected an issue in the Fusion Public API where it reported poor coverage when the device was actually out of range. 
  • SPR14253 - Removed the second message (‘The country selected may not be supported on this device…”) when modifying the country selection in the Options regulatory page. 
  • SPR14305 - Fixed a deadlock situation in Wireless Status where the Wireless Log page would lock up. 
  • SPR14302 - Updated the Configuration Editor’s country list to match what is supported by the radio. 
  • SPR13962 - Connection issues when using AES encryption in range of 16 or more Access Points. 
  • SPR14066 - Maintenance preformed on the regulatory entries based on the latest approvals for Photon based devices. 
  • Updated country code table to reflect latest rules for Australia. Ch 120-132 disabled. 
  • SPR12805 - The roaming algorithm sometimes takes too long to choose and connect to an AP.

Enhancements in Bluetooth - BTExplorer 1.2.4 Build 14702

  • Support for “touchless” operation
  • The discoverability and connectability are set to false by default for VC5090.
  • Minimize option added to BTExplorer menu.
  • The 'new connection' wizard screen text control has been made scrollable.
  • Modified BT tray icon pop up menu so that the minimize BTExplorer option is available even when the menu is reversed.

Issues fixed in Bluetooth

  • SPR14016 - Fixed an issue where BTExplorer COM port would time out after continuously opening for a prolonged period of time.
  • SPR14166 - Changes were made to SPPOpen for speed improvements.
  • SPR14204 - Changed the default font for the dialogs in BTExplorer to Tahoma to resolve issue on Korean OS with text boxes fitting on the screen.
  • SPR14297 - SDP Query Error occurs too fast when entering long PIN codes. SDP query timeout was increased to 40 seconds.
  • Fixed an issue with BTE Provisioning APIs: Trying to delete a Favorite connection from a Multithreaded application hangs in BTPDeleteConnection routine.
  • Fixed an issue with BTE Provisioning APIs: In a Multithreaded, application BTPFindServiceClose always fails with return code 3.
  • Fixed an issue where you were unable to connect to SSP server with PIN authentication enabled.
  • Added unique device name feature with restart BTExplorer.
  • Fixed an issue where there was no yellow exclamation point on disabling the radio from the tray icon.
  • Fixed an issue where there was no scrollbar on Settings / Services / Add / FTP / "Select Root Directory" dialog tree view.
  • Fixed dialog box to correctly fit the WT4090 device. Also, added WT4090 specific text display strings to the dialog box to select from multiple favorites when opening Bluetooth links on behalf of other applications. Also, added WT4090 specific processing to insure focus is correctly handled in the dialog box to select from multiple favorites when opening Bluetooth links on behalf of other applications.
  • Fixed BTExplorerMenu to not display the enabled icon if Bluetooth is disabled.
  • Fixed an issue in BTExplorer that caused an exception to occur when ‘Return Audio to Phone’ is selected from a hands-free device.
  • Fixed an issue when creating a Serial port server profile, Local COM Port drop down combo box lists COM1 and all the WAN ports instead of BT COM ports (4, 5 and 9).
  • Fixed an issue where the SIP was not displayed when trying to change the file name during an FTP get operation.
  • Fixed an issue where BTExplorer API - BTPFindFirstConnection function does not return the unconnected favorite(s) after receiving a query of connection(s) with attribute BTP_CONNECTION_REMEMBERED.
  • Fixed an issue where BTExplorer threw an exception when set NumberServiceUUID = 0 and Service = NULL in Provision API query.
  • A delay in BTExplorer Menu startup operation was eliminated.
  • Corrected issue where in the Select Remote Device dialog if the Detail View is selected the Discover Names dialog incorrectly loses focus and BTExplorer becomes non-responsive.
  • Bug fixed when Command Bar was found to stop working when Setup screens are cancelled.
  • Fixed problem where BTExplorer takes 2 minutes to disconnect from an ActiveSync connection.

  • Wavelink TE v7.0.12.
  • 909x new MSR driver to support MSR9001.
  • New Version of IDockIt v4.01.02.0 cab file included in application partition.
  • MC9090 CE5.0 DCP KBtool workspace updated to include support for 33key Keypad.

The Device Configuration Package provides Terminal Configuration Manager (TCM) and the associated TCM scripts. With this package hex images that represent flash partitions can be created and downloaded to the mobile computer. Please refer MC9090 Product manuals for details of using TCM.

Installation Instructions

  • DCP Installation - Download the 9090c50BenDC010702.exe installation file, execute it, and follow the install screen prompts.
  • Terminal Update - Extract the 909Xc50BenUP013000.zip file and copy the 'OSUpdate' folder along with the sub-folders to the root of either the SD card or the \Temp directory and start the update process by executing the corresponding link file. It is important that the directory structure be maintained for proper operation.
