MC2100 Operating System Professional BSP 82.34.0004 Release Notes


BSP v82.34.04 brings in Windows CE 6.0 Professional Operating System support for MC2100 product Family. This BSP also supports higher Memory than the regular MC2180 Device. Thus it brings in more features and enhances the performance and power of the MC2100 devices.

Installation Requirements

MC2180 device must contain CE 6.0 Professional Software.

Installation Instructions

Update through \Storage Card

·      Unzip file and copy its contents (OSUpdate folder) to the root folder on SD card.

·      Insert the SD card in the device to be updated.

·      Place the device to be updated on A/C power supply.

·      Run 2100c60Aen_SD shortcut from \Storage Card\OSUpdate folder to start the update process.


Update through \Temp

·      Unzip file and copy its contents (OSUpdate folder) to the \Temp folder.

·      Place the device to be updated on A/C power supply.

·      Run 2100c60Ben_TEMP shortcut from \Storage Card\OSUpdate folder to start the update process.


Update through \Application

·      Unzip file and copy its content (OSUpdate folder) to the \Application folder.

·      Place the device to be updated on A/C power supply.

·      Run 2100c60Ben_APP shortcut from \Application\OSUpdate folder to start the update process.


·      Keep the device in AC Power during the update process.

·      While using Application partition update method, Application data will be kept intact and OSUpdate folder will also remain after completing the OS Update process.

Building Applications using PSDK

The "Windows CE Platform SDK v1.0 for MC2100c60" - 21x0c60BenPS010007.exe or 21x0c60BenPS010008.exe provides the tools necessary for creating standard C/C++ applications for the MC2100 running Windows CE v6.0 Professional. Please download the PSDK from Support Portal Website.

Please note that although this Platform SDK can be used to develop standard Windows CE applications, it does not provide support for the Symbol Value-Add APIs, such as those used to implement scanning applications. To access the Symbol API, this kit must be used in conjunction with EMDK for C, which is available for download from the Developer Community

PSDK Installation

The following software packages must be installed prior to the installation of the Platform SDK for MC2100c60. Most are available as a download from Microsoft’s website.

·      Microsoft Windows 2000,Windows XP or Windows Vista Operating Systems

·      Microsoft ActiveSync 4.5 or higher.

·      Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 with SP1 or Microsoft Visual Studio 2008.

Note: Before installing any version of the MC2100c60 PSDK, please uninstall any earlier versions of the same.

Note: MC2100c60 PSDK installation process fails if Microsoft Visual Sudio 2005 is installed together with Visual Sudio 2008 on the same PC.

Known issue: On some PC configurations PSDK fails to install properly. To resolve this issue use the PSDK Installation package with UI and select the 'Custom Install' button on the opening screen of the installer and then deselect 'Documentation'.

Once this package has been installed, Microsoft Visual Studio IDE will contain a new selection for the MC2100c60 Windows CE6.0 Professional PSDK in the "Build-

>Configuration Manager" menu field. This entry must be selected when creating and debugging applications for MC2100 device.

Important Notes

If Dynamic Web Pages are browsed using IE in MC2100 CE 6.0 Professioanl devices, its advised to set the IE User Agent to “Windows CE” to avoid a low memory condition.

In the Device, the same can be achieved through by setting the User Agent to “Windows CE” from Start Menu -> Settings -> Control Panel -> Internet Options -> User Agent
