Suggestions for better quality photos.
Camera settings for capturing photos will depend upon the capturing device (video or digital), the lighting, and the background where the image will be captured. Getting the correct settings will be a trial and error approach. However, the following tips should help in selecting the proper camera settings:
- The lighting should be consistent and illuminate both sides of the face. Taking photos by a window or a high traffic area where the light keeps changing will not produce repeatable photo capture quality.
- A light colored background works better than a dark colored background.
- Capturing many photos using the maximum color depth and size can increase the processing time use by the application to prepare the image for the driver. Also some applications have been known to have problems when shrinking the image to appear on the cards. The photos should be saved with enough resolution to attain good printed image quality. The minimum settings should be 16 bit color and 640 x480 resolution, we recommend 24 bit color and 640 x480 resolution.
