The cutter option is used to automatically cut labels after printing. The cutter option should not be used to cut through adhesive. This document will discuss Setting up a printer equipped with the cutter option

Symptoms addressed by this solution include:

  • Labels are cutting or the cutter is not functioning
  • Labels are jamming inside the cutter option
  • Labels are not getting cut properly

Enabling the Cutter

The cutter must be enabled through your software application or driver. Look for the Print Mode or similar setting that is associated with cutter configuration. That may also include a value for number of labels to print before cutting. This must not be set to zero (0). If you are using the ZebraDesigner Driver we have details on using the configuration settings feature Read More>>

Printing a configuration label or requesting status from the printer can identify the current Print Mode Setting to assure the printer is properly configured for Cutter Mode. Viewing the printer configuration  Read More>>

Assure the printer is properly loaded with the labels exiting the front of the cutter. They should be going through the cutter to allow for proper cutting.

Cutter Jamming

The cutter option is designed to cut through labels with no adhesive or through the part of a label where the blades would not have to pass through adhesive material. If the cutter repeatedly cuts through adhesive material the adhesive will build up on the blades and eventually jamming will occur or failure to cut properly. The printer will need to be serviced and have the cutter replaced
