Topic or Information
Printer with the combined Wi-Fi and Bluetooth Option (Dual Radio) will not maintain a Bluetooth connection if Wi-Fi is enabled ("on" by default) and Wired or Wireless network connection attempts are unsuccessful.
The printer will create a Bluetooth connection and then close the connection causing it to disconnect from the host.
This only applies to printers used exclusively with Bluetooth connections
Printers affected are those using the Dual Radio Option (Wireless N-Radio).
- ZD500 Series Printers
- QLn (only when docked).
- ZQ500 Series Printers
This issue has been corrected in the latest firmware release for the ZQ500 and QLn Vxx.19.13Z and later.
A workaround is available using the SGD (SetGetDo) commands to turn off wifi and use Bluetooth exclusively.
if you are going to be using an N-radio printer in a "Bluetooth-only" configuration, it is strongly recommended that the W-iFi functionality be disabled with the following SetGetDo command:
! U1 setvar "wlan.enable" "off"
This will prevent the printer from cycling through the connection attempts for Ethernet and Wi-Fi allowing the Bluetooth connection to remain active.
To determine the present state of the wlan on a printer send the following command to see "on" or "off"
! U1 getvar "wlan.enable"
