The ZQ110 can utilize the buttons to perform certain actions rather than requiring specific commands to be sent to it.  These procedures range from calibrating the printer, to setting media type, to enabling iOS mode.  The following document provides detail on what procedures are available.

Details

Procedures available are detailed below:

Self-Test operation procedure:

  1. Turn the printer off and close the printer paper cover with your media installed.
  2. Press the feed button in and then hold the power button in while continuing to hold the feed button until the unit powers on.
  3. The printout is produced after releasing the two buttons at power up.  
  4. To add a printout of the ASCII pattern, press the feed button once more (this can be used to test printhead functionality).
  5. After ASCII patter is printed out, the self-test is automatically terminated.

Setting media/label type (gap/mark or receipt):

  1. Turn on the printer power.
  2. Open the paper cover and press and hold down the paper feed button for longer than 2 seconds.
  3. After the buzzer tone is emitted, insert your media and close the cover (media will feed to calibrate).
  4. Repeat the steps above to return to receipt mode.

This can also be done using commands or via the Unified Mobile Utility Software.  Below are the commands to use:

Switch to Label Mode (both gap and mark):  Send "BS L L (08 4C 4C)"
Switch to Receipt Mode:  Send "BS L R (08 4C 52)"

Media calibration (Auto Calibration):

  1. Turn the printer power off while in label print mode (see above steps to ensure proper mode is activated).
  2. Press and hold down the paper feed button and then press the power button.
  3. After the following printout is outputted, press the power button to perform auto calibration.

                     4. Three pages of label (or black mark) paper should be output when performing the calibration.

Calibration can also be run using direct commands.  To initiate auto calibration via commands send the following command:

"BS L A (08 4C 41)"

Enable iOS MFi Mode:

  1. Turn on the printer.
  2. Open the media cover.
  3. Press and hold the power button and feed button for more than 2 seconds.
  4. Close the cover when you hear a beep.
  5. Reboot the printer when the following message appears.

                     6.  To disable MFi mode, repeat the above procedure.

To check iOS Mode:

  1. Execute a self-test (see above)
  2. If the printed firmware version contains a lowercase "a" (V01.00 STDa), iOS mode is disabled.
  3. If the printed firmware version contains a lowercase "i" (V01.00 STDi), iOS mode is enabled.

Enabling Hexa-decimal dumping (Hex-Dump):

  1. Turn off the printer, remove the paper roll from the paper housing, and open the paper cover.
  2. Hold down the feed button while you turn on the printer.
  3. Put the paper roll in the printer and close the paper cover.
  4. Run and software program that sends data to the printer.  The printer prints "Hexadecimal dump" and then all the codes are received in a two column format.  The first column contains the hexadecimal codes and the second column give the ASCII characters that correspond to the codes.
  5. If the feed button is pressed 3 times, the printer finishes Hexadecimal dump mode, printing the message "Online Hex Dump Completed".

Factory Reset WLAN settings:

To set Factory reset mode, the printer needs to be in Hex-Dump mode.

  1. After turning off the power, open the cover.
  2. Turn on the printer while holding down the feed button like in the self-test procedure.
  3. Close the cover to enter hex-dump mode.  The below message should be printed:

                      4.  Push the power button 3 times and the WLAN settings will be reset to factory defaults and the below                                message should be printed:
