You may encounter an error when installing the Zebra ZXP Series 1 and Series 3 Card Printers due to Windows not finding the appropriate file library or the printer driver may be appearing "unknown".

During the installation of Ethernet drivers for the ZXP Series 3 or ZXP Series 1 card printer, you may encounter the following two errors:

These Windows errors refer to a certain library not being found (in the case of error 126) during installation, resulting in the printer driver appearing 'unknown' (in the case of error 1797) to Windows.  

Steps to correct issue:

During installation, the Ethernet driver requires access to various system files.  These files are generally made accessible by being referenced in Windows' system variable Path.  Path should include, at the minimum, the following directories in order to allow for a successful installation:


To modify the system variable Path, you should Right Click on My Computer > Properties > Advanced tab (or Advance System Settings)> Environment Variables.  Modify Path to include the above two entries at the start.  %SystemRoot%  may convert into a true path (example: It may become C:\WINDOWS) after saving, which is perfectly fine. It is advisable to copy and save your system's original path settings before modifying it to include the above.  Many applications depend on a properly configured Path system variable, and if configured inappropriately, you may wish to revert back to your old Path settings.
