When it comes to cybersecurity, we are often our own worst enemy.

As Zebra’s Chief Security Officer, Mike Zachman, explains in a new episode of our Cybersecurity Month podcast series, people are often the cause of device and data breaches – but it’s not who you may think.

Though malicious cyber criminals are actively searching for vulnerabilities in devices and networks, much of their success is due to a mistake made by someone like you or me. How often do you check your personal devices’ security settings, much less change them? Probably not very often, right? What about your work devices? Unless your IT team pushes an update or you’re prompted to change a smartphone, tablet or printer’s settings from time to time, it’s possible you don’t ever make such changes. Then again, it’s very possible that you’ve accidentally changed a setting before that unknowingly created a vulnerability…or turned on Bluetooth for a while then forgot to turn it back off when not in use…or plugged into a public outlet to recharge your device…or connected to public Wi-Fi.

As Mike explains, there are many ways for you and your employees to unintentionally create a vulnerability in a network and make it easy for bad actors to breach a device or system to extract data. That’s why security is everyone’s business – and everyone’s responsibility!

As Mike explains in this approximately 30-minute podcast episode, there is always more that we can be doing as individuals and organizations to protect our assets and help others do the same. Listen now to find out what actions you should be taking:
