Noerpel Group Accelerates Deliveries, Doubles Productivity with Zebra Fixed Industrial Scanning Solution

German third-party logistics solutions provider halves processing time by automating inventory replenishment and redistribution

RATINGEN, Germany – Oct. 27, 2022 – Zebra Technologies Corporation (NASDAQ: ZBRA), an innovator at the front line of business with solutions and partners that deliver a performance edge, today announced that the Noerpel Group has achieved more than 50% in time savings in its inbound storage operations at its logistics site in Hannover-Langenhagen using Zebra’s fixed industrial scanning (FIS) solution.

The Noerpel Group receives up to 25 truckloads of goods each week at this site from a leading fashion and lifestyle retail customer. The associated data is logged in Noerpel’s enterprise resource planning (ERP) system, and each box is redistributed to its final destination.

After testing a variety of FIS systems, Noerpel consulted with its technology advisor, Priority ID and Zebra PartnerConnect Business Partner, Rose Intech GmbH who recommended Zebra FS40 fixed industrial scanners and ZT411 industrial printers to accelerate its goods receipt and onward handling processes. This solution was selected for its scan rate of almost 100% on inbound shipment labels, including those that are poorly printed, faded, damaged or under shrink wrap which cause reflections. Noerpel was already using Zebra mobile devices and printers in its wider warehouse daily operations, so integrating the Zebra FIS solution was a natural progression in its digital transformation.

“Zebra’s fixed industrial scanning solution has enabled us to efficiently and smoothly integrate a new customer’s specified logistical processes into our Langenhagen warehouse,” said Sven Dopslaff, Head of Logistics, Hannover-Langenhagen site, the Noerpel Group. “It’s been a quick and easy system deployment, taking only a few days, and our warehouse workers only needed a short training session.”

During the first five months after its installation, the FIS solution has enabled Noerpel to autonomously scan and validate around 700,000 packages. As the complete process for each package only takes three seconds, follow up processes have been automated, and staff now only need to intervene by exception. Read rates have also been significantly accelerated and accuracy has been enhanced. The processing time is halved compared with manual-only scanning, and a truckload of boxes is unloaded in under an hour, resulting in a significant efficiency gain for Noerpel.

“Our collaboration with Zebra PartnerConnect Business Partner Rose Intech GmbH enables us to deliver an automated logistics solution that has enhanced Noerpel’s warehouse processes,” said Rudolf Schambeck, Senior Channel Manager, Zebra Technologies. “This has doubled productivity with the potential to benefit other locations in the future.”
