Ebematsu Shoji Saves 23 Hours in Total Staff Time Daily with Zebra Technologies

Zebra warehouse mobility solution helps Japan’s leading kitchenware wholesaler and manufacturer save time while reducing shipping errors by 30%

Tokyo, JAPAN – Feb. 7, 2024 – Zebra Technologies Corporation (NASDAQ: ZBRA), a leading digital solution provider enabling businesses to intelligently connect data, assets, and people, today announced Ebematsu Shoji Co Ltd (Ebematsu) is improving its operational efficiency and minimizing shipping errors with Zebra’s warehouse mobility solution.

Ebematsu is a leading kitchenware wholesale and manufacturing company in Japan that offers more than 90,000 high-quality kitchenware products ranging from professional to household products.

The solution implemented by Ebematsu includes Zebra’s lightweight, ruggedized MC20 handheld computer. The device is ergonomically designed with a large screen and comes with a keypad for easy, comfortable usage. Powered by Android 11, it offers maximum computing power and is scalable to support future business growth. The familiar Android OS also makes it user-friendly and reduces onboarding time. Additionally, it has excellent scanning accuracy.

Prior to using the MC20, Ebematsu’s 70 front-line staff typically spent a total of about 1,400 minutes (approximately 23 hours) per day travelling between various points of the warehouse to access a computer located at a fixed location for storing, picking, shipping inspection and inventory management. They have eliminated this wasted time with the ability to check the same real-time information on the spot through their respective handheld devices.

“The introduction of Zebra’s handheld solution has reduced the combined time of our staff spent on this task by approximately 23 hours per day, particularly in the areas of storing, picking, shipping inspection and inventory management,” said Susumu Matsui, Assistant Section Chief, Systems Department, Ebematsu Shoji. “The excellent scanning performance of the handheld devices has also helped us reduce shipping errors by up to 30%.  Ultimately, our goal is to empower our front-line staff to perform their duties with greater efficiency and deliver better results through digitalization.”

Ebematsu worked closely with Zebra PartnerConnect reseller and independent software vendor (ISV), Sofu Systems to implement and deploy the solution. After understanding the business challenges faced by Ebematsu, Sofu Systems collaborated with Zebra to come up with a tailored solution that delivers better operational efficiency.

“According to Zebra’s latest Warehouse Vision Study, seven in 10 of warehouse decision-makers in APAC already have or are planning to automate workflows by 2024,” said Takanori Furukawa, Sales Director for Japan, Zebra Technologies. “The collaboration between workers and automation will enhance human productivity and efficiency, which leads to improved throughput and customer satisfaction. This can only be achieved by using the right technology.”
