AUCKLAND, New Zealand – Sept. 30, 2026 – Zebra Technologies Corporation (NASDAQ: ZBRA), a global leader in digitising and automating workflows to deliver intelligent operations, today announced that Spex Ltd., a member of the Medifab Global Group, has modernized its warehousing and fulfilment operations with Zebra’s radio-frequency identification (RFID) solutions, improving picking efficiency by more than 50% while paving the way for near-perfect dispatch accuracy.
A leading New Zealand-based medical equipment manufacturer, Spex builds wheelchair accessories, rehabilitation tools, and mobility solutions that provide freedom to individuals with mobility challenges. For over three decades, the company managed picking and dispatch with a manual barcode scanning system, checklists, and paper order sheets. Without verifiable proof of dispatch on paper records, any missing item claims could result in automatic and costly product replacements.
However, as order volumes, product ranges, and international sites expanded, the complexity of its fulfilment operations grew. This created a critical need for a streamlined picking and dispatch process with automated verification and real-time asset visibility.
To resolve this challenge, Spex worked with Zebra and their implementation partner, Synergic Technologies to implement a complete RFID solution. On the warehouse floor, the company deployed Zebra’s MC3300 RFID series mobile computers for picking, ZT400 Series industrial printers for shipping labels, and FX9600 fixed RFID readers to scan shipments. The entire solution is tied together by Zebra’s MotionWorks™ enterprise software, which collects data to create an automated, real-time inventory ecosystem.
This integrated solution empowers a connected frontline from picking to final dispatch. Workers use MC3300 mobile devices to locate items instantly, before printing shipping tags on ZT400 printers. Finally, a nesting station equipped with the FX9600 reader performs a 10-second completeness check, automatically updating the ERP system.
