Collaborating for Accessibility: Enabling Technology Together

At Zebra Technologies, we believe in the power of collaboration to create a more inclusive world. We have made a commitment to improving accessibility, and we are proud to work with third parties to ensure our hardware and our partner’s software applications meet the defined accessibility requirements for our public-facing computing devices. Accessibility is vital in today's technology-driven world to ensure that the millions of people with disabilities can independently navigate the world around them.

Our Partnership Approach

We work collaboratively with our partners to configure Zebra's solutions and deploy them in a way that meets specific requested accessibility standards. Our enterprise-grade products are designed for employees of organizations in the transportation and logistics, warehouse, healthcare, and retail industries. These products include industrial printers and scanners, enterprise handheld computers, tablets, kiosks, and machine vision scan tunnels among others.

Some devices, such as kiosks and personal shopper series, are designed to be deployed in public environments where the end-user experience is defined by the configurations chosen by our partners, integrated with software developed and deployed by our customers and partners. While our hardware platform is robust and reliable, it is the selection of accessibility features and the integration with our customers’ software applications that bring these public-facing devices to life.

By understanding the end-user and their intended use cases, we can collaboratively design and deliver a platform that supports specific functionalities and accommodates a broad spectrum of accessibility features to meet diverse user needs. We encourage our partners to continue to work with us in defining the requirements of solution deployments which integrate customer software with Zebra hardware so together we can fulfill or surpass the accessibility needs of our shared customers and end users.

Supporting Accessibility Requirements

Zebra supports various solutions for users with physical, visual, or hearing impairments, either as integrated features or optional add-ons. We are committed to helping our customers and partners enable accessibility and support compliance with regulations such as the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and the European Accessibility Act (EAA).

Our design philosophy embraces best practices in human-centered design, fostering accessibility through thoughtful product development, extensible platforms, and the deployment of highly customizable software and operating systems. By working collaboratively with integration partners, customers and accessibility advocates to define use cases and requirements, we can deliver solutions that are accessible to the widest possible audience.

Looking Forward

We look forward to partnering with our resellers and integrator channel partners to include support for accessibility features where needed, depending on how they deploy our products. Together, we can deploy solutions that are  functional and accessible wherever they are publicly installed. We encourage our customers and partners to review the scope of the EAA and work with Zebra to support the mission of removing barriers for those with disabilities across EU Member States.
